The large keyboard is something that you will see on most BlackBerry phones, and that hasn’t changed with the Bold. The size of the Bold is very close to that of the 8800. It is 4.5 inches tall, 2.6 inches wide, half an inch deep, and it weighs in at 4.7 ounces.
How does it look?
The bottom half of the Bold is all keyboard with excellent backlighting, while most of the top contains the 480×320 pixel screen that displays 65k colors. This screen is high resolution, can easily be seen even on a sunny day, and may be the best ever on any mobile device.
What is the difference in the keyboards?
The keyboard size of the Bold is comparable to that of the 8800, but the 8800 has hard plastic keys, while the Bold has keys that are a bit squishy, but also firm at the same time. The backlighting of the Curve allowed all of the keys to light up, while only letters and symbols on the Bold light up.
What is different with the battery?
The 1500mAh battery is now twice as large as previous batteries and should give you about the same amount of run time as previous BlackBerrys, which is great considering the better screen resolution and 3G.
Are there any negatives to the Bold?
Surfing the internet on the Bold must be done with the trackball, and it can take a little getting used to, if you like it at all. Like most phones, the screen of the Bold is just asking to be scratched and may need some protection. The size of the BlackBerry is still a bit larger than most other phones, and may not fit easily into your pockets.
Other than that the Bold holds up very well to the competition, and is easily the best BlackBerry thus far.
