If you are unable to connect to the internet by using your Blackberry Bold as a tethered modem, the signal strength is probably insufficient for connecting to the wireless network. Here are three things you could try to resolve the issue:
- Move to a location with a better signal.
- Try and connect to another network:
Remove the battery, and wait 5 minutes.
Insert the battery, power off the device for another 5 minutes.
Power the device back on, then go to Options, Advanced Options, and Host Routing Table.
Highlight an entry that is not in bold, then open the menu and click Register Now.
- Use the Application Loader:
Remove the battery.
Connect the device to your computer via USB cable.
Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager, and click on Options, and then Connection Settings.
Click Detect in the Connection Settings window and make sure it is detected.
Then close the Connection Settings window.
Double click Application Loader in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Click Next to start the wizard.
Then check the boxes of the applications you would like to load.
Then click Next.
Then click Advanced.
Choose Erase All Application Data, and click Next.
Choose the boxes next to Do not automatically backup the application data during the loading process.
Then insert the battery back into the device.
Click Next to load.
After that you should get a message telling you that the loading operation was successful.
Then you can insert your memory card and close the wizard.
