BlackBerry Bold vs. iPhone 3G - Which Has the Bigger Screen?
Posted on 2008 under BlackBerry vs. iPhone |If the screen size of your new mobile device is going to be the deciding factor for you between the BlackBerry Bold and the iPhone 3G, then even though the Bold is a larger device, it will not win this one.
The total dimensions of the Bold are:
Height = 4.48″
Width = 2.6″
Depth = .59″
The total dimensions of the iPhone 3G are:
Height = 4.5″
Width = 2.4″
Depth = .48″
On paper the dimensions don’t even seem that much different, however, the Bold has a noticeable difference when in hand.
The BlackBerry Bold has the nice full QWERTY keyboard, which just happens to take up half of the device in the front. This means that screen space inevitably had to be sacrificed in order to provide a comfortable typing experience. If you would rather have more screen, then you would probably go with the iPhone, but if you would rather have an actual keyboard, then you might go with the Bold. Either way you go the video is going to be great…it will just be a little smaller on the Bold.

I love the detail! Is the keyboard on the Blackberry really that easy to use? On a small device screen-size is vital…

I guess it depends on what you like, but the keyboard on the Bold is definitely better than most other phones. Screen size does matter, and if you notice, they continue to come out a bit larger on the newer devices. Mobile phones used to be a bit large, and then they became razor thin, and now that they can do so much, including shooting photos, recording videos, and watching videos, they are getting larger again. At least they’re still pocket size though…although you may need a larger pocket for the Bold. Thanks for the comment David!
