Is it a BlackBerry? Is it an iPhone? Is it even a smartphone? What do you think?
Actually, the number one selling phone in America is the Motorola Razr V3. It’s not that interesting if you really think about it. You can get a Razr for free with a contract with several different carriers. I guess most americans would still rather use their phone as a phone instead of a multimedia device that can do more than you need it to do.
However, smartphones are not that far behind as they do take up three of the top five spots. Coming in at number two is the Apple iPhone. Yeah, you probably knew that one didn’t you? The iPhone is an icon in the mobile phone industry. Lots of phones want to be like it, but so far they are eating dust.
The number three phone is the BlackBerry Curve. The Curve is quite different from the iPhone, the browser is easily worse, but it has a nice full keyboard, and the email is definitely good. Perhaps the Bold will move up in the ranks, but then again we’re still waiting for that release.
The phone holding up the number four spot is the LG Chocolate. Just another one of those phones that you can get for less while making your calls and doing your texting. Nothing special here.
Last but not least, coming in at number five is the BlackBerry Pearl. The Pearl is the model that came out prior to the Curve, and while it may not be much now compared to the newer models that are coming out, it was definitely a competitor in its class and time.
Smartphones are definitely within the ranks of the top phones in America, but some of those free phones just won’t go away. Perhaps BlackBerry would have some domination in this list if they could get their phones out on time, but at least they have two there.
