How to Fix a BlackBerry Trackball

The trackball on BlackBerrys is how you navigate through the device.  It will get a lot of use, and eventually may become unresponsive at times.  However, it is possible to remedy this without sending your BlackBerry out for repair.

The first thing you can do is pop off your trackball with something flat.  Try to get any dirt that may be clogging up inside there with a damp cloth.

If that doesn’t solve the issue for you, you can purchase a new trackball assembly and replace it yourself if you don’t want to send it out for repair.

The following video is about coloring a BlackBerry trackball, however, you do get a nice look at the removal of the trackball.

There’s another way to clean this sticky unscrollable blackberry trackball without disassembling. My 8900 javelin recently got the same problem, it wont scroll down. Lucky,my friend recommended me to http://www.unique-stuff.co.cc/fixing_sticky_blackberry_trackball.html They have all the tricks, but the rotating straw technique works for me, and now i have my trackball working again..
