Palm Pre vs. iPhone 3G Video Demo
Posted on 2009 under Palm Pre, Palm vs. iPhone, Videos | 7 CommentsThe Palm Pre has accomplished something that its competitors have failed to do so far, and it has mainly to do with multitasking. This video will show you how the Palm Pre compares side by side to the iPhone 3G. The iPhone has been extremely popular due to its apps, and other multimedia capabilities, however, there are a few reasons why the Palm Pre might win a head to head battle.
Thanks to webOS, which is the new operating system for the Pre, users have the ability to open multiple apps (at least 12) at one time and go through them.
The Pre itself is actually smaller than the iPhone, however, the screen is just about the same size and is actually a bit more crisp in appearance.
The scrolling is actually about equal on both devices. Both move to the touch, and both appear to move very smoothly.
The keyboards of the Pre and iPhone are very different. The Pre has a slide out QWERTY keyboard, while the iPhone has a virtual keyboard. The slide out keyboard should give you an advantage, unless of course you do very well with the virtual keyboards.
The browsing experience is quick on both devices and both are also equipped with the multitouch function, which allows zooming in on a specific area.
These are the main aspects that are shown in the video. Both devices work very well, however, the webOS and the slide out keyboard give the Palm Pre a slight advantage over the iPhone 3G.
How do you think the Palm Pre compares to the iPhone 3G?

Very nice comparison, thank you. BTW, the four icons at the bottom of the Pre ARE customizable! You just hold your finger for a few seconds on the icon you want to move up – until it has puddle circles around it – then move it up into the open laucher with the other app icons. You can move an icon from the Launcer to the row of four at the bottom in the same way.

Well, compare the Palm Pre to an Jailbroken iPhone!
Jailbroken iPhones support Multitasking, too

I think this review is quite bias in favor of the pre
he was always for forgiving when mentioning about short comings of the pre, yet very skeptical when it comes to the iphone
also, iphone does have multi tasking capability however limited to a certain “applications”. During a call you are will able to return to home screen and open any app; itune can also run in the background of other apps and even when the phone is locked. I think this would make the iphone much more practical because having a number of apps open in the background, like the pre, doesn’t give much advantage to the user as the full screen is occupied.

He was definitely favoring the pre obviously because this is a blackberry website. iPhones better. People need to stop acting like it’s not! Thats it! LoL
